Does ChatGPT recommend your business? How to check in five minutes

You don't need a tool to get a first read. You need the exact question your customer would ask.

Open ChatGPT (or Gemini, or Perplexity) and ask it the way a real buyer would: 'Who's the best [your trade] in [your city]?' Then ask a follow-up: 'Is [your business name] a good choice?' Read the answers slowly.

What to look for

  • Are you named at all in the first answer — or only your competitors?
  • If you're named, are you first, or third after two others?
  • Which competitors come up most often across a few phrasings?
  • What words does it use about you — and are any of them wrong or dated?

Try three or four phrasings, because answers vary. 'Best-reviewed,' 'affordable,' 'open now,' 'for families' — each can surface a different set of names. That variation is normal, and it's exactly why a single check is a snapshot, not the whole picture.

The catch with doing it by hand

One manual check tells you about this minute. It doesn't tell you whether you slipped since last month, which of four assistants ignores you, or whether a competitor is pulling ahead. That's the gap a weekly, measured check closes — same questions, every week, turned into a score you can watch move.

See where you stand

TownCheck asks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity the questions your customers ask — every week — and shows you your score, who's being recommended instead, and what to fix. A one-time checkup is $14.99.
