The AI-visibility checklist for local businesses

None of this is exotic. It's the handful of things that, done consistently, make you easy for an AI to recommend.

Reviews

  • Ask every satisfied customer for a review, as a habit, not a campaign.
  • Nudge for specifics — what you did, how it went — not just stars.
  • Reply to reviews so the record shows you're active and present.

Listings

  • Make your name, address, phone, and hours identical everywhere.
  • Fill in services, specialties, and the areas you serve.
  • Turn on relevant attributes (emergency, same-day, by appointment).

Being mentioned

  • Get listed in local directories and 'best of' roundups for your trade.
  • Make sure your city and neighborhoods appear in what's written about you.

Your own pages

  • Write pages that answer the exact questions buyers ask.
  • Use plain words a customer would use, not industry jargon.
  • Keep hours, services, and contact details current.

Then measure

Do the work, then check the answer. If you can't see what AI says before and after, you're guessing at whether any of it landed.

See where you stand

TownCheck asks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity the questions your customers ask — every week — and shows you your score, who's being recommended instead, and what to fix. A one-time checkup is $14.99.
